WHEN YOU DO WHAT YOU LOVE…
PROJECT: G Catering Salad Shoot
AKA: When You Do What You Love…
Production Role: Photographer
When my friends over at G Catering asked me to photograph their salads, I was immediately struck by the unexpected artistry in what some might view as humble fare. I told my friend Cooper—one of their talented chefs—about the shoot, and he looked me square in the eye and deadpanned, “They say when you do what you love, you never work a day in your life.” It was the dryest, funniest delivery of that old adage—but beneath the humor, there was a deeply resonant truth. As much as photography is physical work, there’s an unmistakable joy in capturing light and texture on something as fresh and vibrant as a salad.

BACK TO YOUR ROOTS
PROJECT: Filming Christ Community Church
AKA: Back to Your Roots
Production Role: Videographer
Filming the welcome video at the church I grew up in was a lovely experience I recently got to experience. There’s something about walking through a place that shaped so much of your early life—knowing a place like the back of your hand but I wasn’t there to relive the past, but of course it finds its way into the frame anyway. top to bottom, every shot ends up personal it carries a long history of childhood moments: friends you grew up with, Sunday School teachers, youth group games, whispered jokes during long services.

PHOTOGRAPHING MY FAVORITE PERSON
PROJECT: JADE’S BABY PICTURES
AKA: PHOTOGRAPHING MY FAVORITE PERSON
PRODUCTION ROLE: PHOTOGRAPHER
One of the most exciting asks I’ve ever had is from my friend and former roommates Jim and Amy when they called to see if I would do a photoshoot for they’re newborn Jade.

THE SECRET JOY OF SHOOTING IN 90DEGREE HEAT
PROJECT: A Fine & Private Place
AKA: The Secret Joy of Filming in 90Degree Heat
Production Role: AD/Producer
Last summer, I had the opportunity to work as the assistant director and consulting producer on a short film for my good friend Sarah Pearce. Sarah had been developing the project for a while along with her co-writer Timothy Cody, and when she asked me to come on board, it was an easy and immediate yes! The film itself was ambitious in its emotional scope despite being compact in length, and getting to help in the creative creative and and shape the logistical perspective was incredibly fulfilling. It was one of those rare collaborations where the personal trust between team members elevated the work in really tangible ways.

CONNECTING WITH OTHERS THROUGH IMAGES
PROJECT: Chris+Ellen Engagement
AKA: Connecting with Others Through Images
Production Role: Photographer
Last year, I had the incredible opportunity to photograph my friends Chris and Ellen during a major moment in their lives—their engagement. It’s always an incredible experience to photograph an engagement, not just because of the occasion, but because of the way we’re able to use our artform to create a moment, a deeply personal and joyful experience for two people I care about.
